Washington Head Coach Accepts Blame for Keeping Daniels in Game Before Serious Harm

The Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has admitted he bears a portion of the fault for a major injury to the squad’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Particulars of the Harm and Situation

Jayden Daniels, who had one of the greatest rookie campaigns of all time the previous year, sustained a displaced elbow joint in Sunday’s defeat to the Seattle Seahawks. Even though the quarterback passes with his right arm, the issue has left his campaign uncertain. The injury was serious enough that the television broadcast did not show repeats and several players looked away as he was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Reaction

Quinn came under criticism as numerous believed Daniels should not have been on the playing surface to begin with. The incident happened in the fourth quarter with the Washington behind 38-7, rendering a recovery unlikely. It is common in these circumstances for clubs to insert their backup quarterback to prevent injuries to their first-string player.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it nonstop, too, and, wow, I erred,” Quinn remarked of his choice to keep Daniels in the match. “This is 100% on me.”

Aftermath and Team Outlook

Mariota will be the team’s primary QB from now on, but he will lead a team in disarray. After reaching the NFC championship game last season behind Daniels’s brilliance, the team have struggled this season. They also lost defensive back Marshon Lattimore (torn ACL) and wide receiver McCaffrey (collarbone fracture) on Sunday, and have a number of other key players on injured reserve. The Washington squad are 3-6 on the season, and it would require a huge turnaround for the club to make the playoffs.
